Got recipe from Prevention Guide Desserts. Changed it a bit to use half splenda and curious about nutrition count. I just made them and they are QUITE tasty. As someone who eats very healthy, i do crave the indulgence occasionally. These are very chocolatey and delish!!!! Ingredients:
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder |
1/4 cup granulated sugar |
1/4 cup splenda granular, sugar substitute |
3 large egg whites |
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with foil or parchment. 2. Sift Cocoa, pinch of salt and 1/4 cup sugar mixture in small bowl. 3. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar in large bowl w/ electric mixer on med-low until soft peaks form. 4. Beat in remaining sugar mixture, 1/2 tbsp at a time, until meringue is glossy and stiff peaks from,. 5. Fold in cocoa mixture and vanilla extract. 6. drop dough by rounded teaspoons about 1 apart on baking sheets. bake 25 minutes for chewy or 40 min for crispy. Dust with confectioners sugar. |
