Chocolate-almond Scones

I love chocolate (who doesn't). This scone has a wonderful blend of the chocolate and almond flavors, and are quick to make. Gild the lily if you must and butter your scone, but it really does not need help.
Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
5 tsp. baking powder
2 tbl. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 stick (1/4 pound) cold unsalted butter
4 eggs beaten
3/4 cups cream
2 tsp. almond extract
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup sliced almonds, toasted
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
2. Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in mixing bowl.
3. Cut in butter until it resembles coarse meal.
4. Add 3 eggs (retain last egg for wash), almond extract and cream.
5. Stir to form soft dough (do not overwork dough).
6. Mix in the chocolate chips and almonds.
7. Turn dough out and pat until 3/4 thick.
8. Cut scones and place on baking pan coated with cooking spray.
9. Brush with the reserved egg.
10. Bake for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
11. Serve warm...Enjoy!
