CHINESE SALAD This recipe came from an Estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Redden Estate in Canton, Texas in 1994.
Ingredients:
1 head cabbage
2 packages ramen noodles broken into pieces
1 stick butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 heaping teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 cup honey roasted sunflower seeds
1/2 cup almonds slivered
6 green onions chopped small
Directions:
1. Brown noodles in butter then set aside.
2. Mix oil, brown sugar, soy sauce and pepper in small saucepan.
3. Boil 2 minutes then cool completely.
4. Cut cabbage into bite size pieces then add nuts and onions.
5. Add noodles then just before serving add soy sugar mixture.
6. Stir well and serve
