An easy and tasty appetizer that can be adapted to either grill or broil in minutes. Ingredients:
1 tablespoon dry mustard |
2 tablespoons hot water |
1/4 cup corn syrup (light or dark) |
1/4 cup chinese duck sauce (or plum sauce) |
2 tablespoons rice wine (or sake) |
1 tablespoon soy sauce |
1 tablespoon sesame oil |
1 lb large shrimp, shelled, deveined |
3/4 lb bacon, cut in half crosswise |
bamboo skewer |
Directions:
1. Soak skewers in water for 20 minutes. Line broiler pan foil; spray with cooking spray. 2. In a small bowl, stir together mustard and water until smooth, or use already prepared mustard of your choice. Stir in soy sauce. Put shrimp in a larger bowl and add about 1/4 of the mustard glaze. Toss to coat. 3. Wrap 1/2 a bacon slice around each shrimp and skewer about 1 inch apart. 4. Broil 6 inches from heat 8 to 10 minutes, turning once, until shrimp are tender. Occasionally brush with remaining mustard glaze. |
