Chinese Ham Balls With Fruited Ginger Sauce |

A different kind of meatball! Ingredients:
1 lb ground smoked ham |
1 lb ground pork sausage |
1 tablespoon instant minced onion |
2 eggs |
1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs |
1/2 cup milk |
1/2 teaspoon mustard powder |
1/2 cup water |
1 (15 ounce) can fruit cocktail |
1/2 cup orange juice |
1 teaspoon grated orange rind |
2 tablespoons cornstarch |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1 tablespoon soy sauce |
1/2 teaspoon ginger |
1/4 cup vinegar |
2 tablespoons butter |
1/4 cup sherry wine |
Directions:
1. Combine the first 7 ingredients in a bowl and mix well. 2. Shape into 2 inch balls. 3. Brown on all sides in a skillet over low heat; drain off excess fat and add water; cover and cook for about 20 minutes. 4. Drain the fruit cocktail, reserving 1 cup of syrup. 5. Combine the fruit cocktail, reserved syrup and remaining ingredients in a saucepan and bring to boiling point over low heat, stirring frequently. Serve hot over Ham balls. |
