Another treat from my Southern belle MIL. She was a cookbook author, and I am trying to get all these well worn, yellowed pages down for posterity and the enjoyment of others. You won't regret trying any of her recipes! (She didn't leave us a cook time for this recipe, please be advised time is approximate) Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups brown sugar |
1 cup flour, plus |
2 tablespoons flour |
2 eggs, beat well |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 cup nuts |
14 candy orange slices |
powdered sugar |
Directions:
1. Add sugar to eggs and salt to flour. Dip slices in each. Bake at 275* until done, approx 10 minutes. Cut in halves and sprinkle with powdered sugar. |
