This dish actually came from my mother in-law from an old chinese cookbook ( which she won't let me have, can you believe) It is one of my husband's favorites and my boys plow through too. Ingredients:
one 2 to 3 pound chuck roast |
2/3 cup soy sauce |
1 cup good wine ----red, white no matter it's wine |
1 teaspoon sugar |
4 to 6 cloves garlic |
2 inches ginger cut up then slightly smushed |
1 white onion cut in slices |
baby carrots if you like them |
Directions:
1. Braise the roast on both sides just until browned 2. Place in crock pot cover with water then add the rest of ingredents Then let her rip. I always cook for 6 hours 3. Serve over rice 4. Left overs are wonderful as is but I have also used them for fried rice for a change. |
