Chinese Barbecue Sauce (Char Siu) |

This is a wonderful sauce that can be used for chicken, pork, beef. I have even used this as a dipping sauce for my egg rolls. Ingredients:
1/2 cup dry cooking sherry |
1/2 cup hoisin sauce |
1/2 cup soy sauce |
1/2 cup sugar |
6 garlic cloves, minced |
1 tablespoon black bean paste |
1 teaspoon five-spice powder |
1 tablespoon chopped shallot |
1 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Mix ingredients in the top of a double boiler and simmer 10 to 15 minutes. 2. Allow sauce to cool before using. |
