You can't beat a spice chilli on a snowy winters day. the secret ingredients make this one just a little different but wonderful moreish Ingredients:
500g minced beef (lean) |
250g mushrooms (any type really) (finely sliced) |
1 medium onion (finely sliced) |
2 tbsp olive oil |
1 red bell pepper (finely sliced) |
1 green bell pepper (finely sliced) |
3 green chilli peppers (finely sliced) |
3 cloves garlic (crushed or grated) |
1 tsp cumin seeds |
1 tsp garam masala |
1 tsp paprika |
1 tbsp mixed herbs |
1 tin chopped tomatoes |
2 tbsp tomatoe puree |
1 tsp (heaped) marmite (or 2 large cubes of good chocolate) |
1 tsp ground corriander |
chilli powder to taste |
1 400g tin kidney beans |
Directions:
1. Open a bottle of Red Wine. Preferably your favourite and pour a large glass and sip. 2. Heat the oil in wok or large Pan and reduce the heat to a medium setting. 3. Add the onion, mixed herbs, chilli and cumin seeds and stir fry for about 5 mins or until the onions start to turn a little transparent. 4. Stir frequently to prevent the onions from sticking. 5. Have a sip of wine. 6. Add the minced beef and cook until all the beef has turned from pink to brown. 7. Have several sips of wine. Top up glass if necessary. 8. Add the Kidney beans and stir. 9. Cook for about 5 mins until the kidney beans start to soften 10. Add the Marmite, (or the Chocolate if your haven't already eaten it !!) chopped tomatoes, Chillis, Corriander, Garam Masala and Paprika and stir well 11. Let this heat up until everything is simmering. 12. Remember. Don't ignore your glass of wine! 13. Add the tomato Puree and stir 14. Add the red & green peppers, mushrooms, chopped Garlic and stir well. 15. Let this cook for about 30 mins. 16. ALWAYS keep trying the sauce, and add more seasoning if you want to. 17. Add chilli powder or chilli flakes if you want it a little more hot ! |
