you can make this as hot and spicy as you wish...I changed the nuts to pecans because I like them better... and used blue cheese...the orginal recipe and photo are from Better Homes and Gardens Ingredients:
1/4 cup walnuts |
1/2 cup honey |
3/4 tsp. ground red pepper (cayenne), 1/4 tsp. ground chipotle chili pepper, or 1 tsp. crushed red pepper |
4 oz. soft pungent cheese (fresh goat cheese or blue cheese) |
crusty bread or crackers |
Directions:
1. 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In shallow baking pan toast walnuts for 10 to 12 minutes, just until they start to brown and become aromatic. Cool slightly; chop coarsely. 2. 2. In a bowl, stir together nuts, honey, and ground red pepper. 3. 3. To serve, bring cheese to room temperature. Serve with honey mixture and crusty bread. Makes 4 servings. |
