This is a recipe I got out of a cook book; it is great to cook on hot days when you don't want to turn on the oven, and is satisfying enough for any time of the year! Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground beef (ground turkey works great, too!) |
1 med. onion |
1pkg (1.25 oz) chili seasoning mix |
1 28 oz can diced tomatoes, drained (or use a variety of flavors!) |
1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes, undrained (again, different flavors are good!) |
1 15 oz can spicy chili beans, undrained |
1 oz unsweetened baking chocolate, coarsely chopped |
Directions:
1. Spray 4-5 qt slow cooker with cooking spray. In a 10 inch skillet, cook grnd beef or turkey and onion over med heat 8-10 minutes; stirring occasionally, until meat is thoroughly cooked; drain, if needed 2. In cooker, mix beef or turkey mixture and remaining ingredients. 3. Cover; cook on low heat setting 4-6 hours. Stir well before serving. |
