Ingredients:
1 tbsp vegetable oil |
1 lb ground sirloin |
salt and freshly ground pepper |
2 hot dogs, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces |
1 small onion, chopped |
2 tsp worcestershire sauce |
2 tbsp chili powder |
2 tsp ground cumin |
8 oz can of tomato sauce |
1 bag of yellow corn tortilla chips |
10 oz shredded yellow cheddar cheese |
sour cream, salsa, and chopped scallions for garnish |
Directions:
1. Heat a medium skillet over high heat. 2. Add the oil and then the beef and begin to brown and crumble with a wooden spoon, about 2 minutes. 3. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. 4. Add sliced hot dogs and continue browning another 3 minutes. 5. Add onion, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, and cumin. 6. Cook another 3 to 5 minutes. 7. Add tomato sauce and simmer for 5 minutes more. 8. Arrange corn chips in a casserole dish. 9. Top the chips with the cooked chili dog topping. 10. Cover the sauce layer with cheese. 11. Place casserole under the broiler for 2 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly. 12. Garnish with sour cream, salsa, and chopped scallions. 13. *The chili dog topping can be made the day before and then assembled when ready to serve. |
