This is a recipe that I have used for years, it came from an old Barbour's cookbook that my mother used to have, and it has been passed on to me, a little worse for the wear! Tastes delicious, and you can also add mushrooms to this to make it just a little better! Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground beef |
1 cup onion, chopped |
3/4 cup green pepper, chopped |
1 (19 ounce) can tomatoes |
1 (7 1/2 ounce) can tomato sauce |
2 (14 ounce) cans kidney beans, drained |
1 tablespoon chili powder |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes |
2 bay leaves |
Directions:
1. In a saucepan, cook until evenly browned, beef, onions and green peppers. 2. Stir in rest of ingredients. Bring to a boil, cover. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour. 3. Remove bay leaf. 4. Serve with hot rolls, and a salad. |
