This is a recipe I've modified until it suites my family's tastes. Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef or 2 lbs ground turkey |
1 small onion, chopped |
2 bell peppers, chopped (color of choice) |
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes or 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can stewed tomatoes |
1 cup water |
1 cup vegetable juice |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder |
1/4-1/2 cup chili powder |
2 1/2 teaspoons cumin |
1 teaspoon oregano |
1 teaspoon paprika |
1 1/2 teaspoons red peppers (or less) |
1 (30 ounce) can chili beans |
Directions:
1. Brown meat with onion and peppers. 2. Drain grease. 3. Add all ingredients and cook, covered, for 1 1/2 hours. |
