I sometimes like to add corn and jalapeno to give the chili a more southwest flavor. Also, this chili is great served over mashed potatoes. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
1 large onion, chopped |
1 large green pepper, chopped |
3 tablespoons chili powder |
3 teaspoons garlic |
1 can dark red kidney beans |
1 can spicy chili bean |
1 (28 ounce) can tomato sauce |
1 (28 ounce) can chopped tomatoes |
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes |
salt & pepper (about 1 tsp. each) |
Directions:
1. Brown ground meat in a large pot. 2. Add onion, garlic, and green pepper. 3. Cook until soft. 4. Add all tomato sauces. 5. Add chili powder, salt, and pepper. 6. Cook at a slow simmer for about 45 minutes. 7. Add all beans and cook about another 15 minutes. |
