Chickpea & Bean Salad

Good potluck salad-good side dish.
Ingredients:
2 cups white vinegar
2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon fine black pepper
1 teaspoon canola oil
1 (15 1/2 ounce) can red kidney beans (drained)
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can cut green beans (drained)
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can yellow wax beans (drained)
1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas (drained)
1 (16 ounce) package frozen lima beans, cooked & drained
1 cup diced celery
1 cup sweet onion, slices
Directions:
1. Combine sugar, vinegar, oil and pepper.
2. Bring to boil and boil 3 minutes.
3. Add all other ingredients except onion slices and celery; bring back to boil.
4. Remove from heat add onions and celery; stir.
5. Refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight.
6. When ready to serve, drain and serve.
