this recipe i got from my friends mom.....who specialized in Cape Malay Cuisine....great for 'fill your pockets Ingredients:
500 grams potatoes |
125 grams butter / margarine |
2 ml salt |
1 egg |
500 grams ( 4 cups ) self raising flour |
chicken filling |
500 -750 grams chicken fillet |
2 tsp garlic paste |
1 tbs chicken bbq spice |
salt to taste |
fresh coriander leaves |
1 medium onion |
2 tsp cooking oil |
Directions:
1. dough:- 2. boil potatoes until soft 3. add butter and mash mixture 4. add beaten egg when mixture has cooled down 5. stir in flour,and form a soft dough 6. roll out dough on lightly floured table and cut into rounds using a large cutter 7. put some fillingon one side of circle,fold over and pressedges together{resembles a small Cornish pie} 8. fry in deep oil until golden brown 9. FILLING:- 10. steam chicken fillet 11. cut into small pieces 12. simmer onions in oil until glossy and chicken pieces,garlic,spices and salt 13. add finely cut coriander. 14. cool before using 15.
