Ingredients:
a few large celery chunks |
2 cup(s) bisquick |
chicken pieces (serving pieces only, no liver, neck, etc.) |
2/3 cup(s) milk plus a little more |
2-3 drop(s) yellow food coloring |
salt |
1 can(s) chicken stock |
Directions:
1. Simmer chicken pieces with celery and salt. When tender (15-20 min), remove from broth and let cool to handle. While chicken is cooling, remove most of chicken grease from the stock. Cut chicken into bite sized pieces and return to broth. Add 2-3 drops food coloring. 2. For dumplings, make Biquick dumplings from box recipe but add a little more milk. Don't boil the dumplings. Drop table spoons onto boiling broth. Simmer 10 minutes uncovered and then another 10 minutes covered. 3. Mom always doubles the dumpling recipe and adds one can of chicken broth to the stock. |
