Philippines is known for this dish. A lot of people uses pork but i prefer chicken. Best served with rice. Ingredients:
4 medium sized chicken (can either use breast, thigh, wings) |
2 big potatoes, quartered |
3-5 gloves of garlic, crushed and chopped |
1 medium sized onion, chopped |
1 cup of water (250 ml) |
1/3 cup soy sauce |
1/3 cup vinegar (i prefer cane vinegar) |
1 tsp cornstarch (dissolved in 1 tbsp water) |
1 bay leaf |
Directions:
1. In a pan, saute garlic and onion. Add chicken and cook for 2 minutes. 2. Pour in water, soy sauce and vinegar. Cover the pan. Bring to a boil. 3. Drop the potatoes into the pan and cook until tender. 4. Season with salt and pepper; and bay leaf. 5. Stir everything before adding the cornstarch mixture. 6. Let it simmer for 5 minutes until sauce has reduced and thickens. 7. *adjust soy sauce and vinegar according to taste 8. *you can also use pork; or combination of both |
