this is what i make when we get tired of rice or pasta- just combine them. i served this with chicken breasts tonite
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 cup basmati rice
1 cup orzo pasta
3 1/2 cups chicken broth
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons italian spices
1/4 cup parmesan cheese (optional)
Directions:
1. in saute pan melt butter and olive oil on hi.
2. stir in onions, and saute until light brown.
3. stir in rice and orzo, coat, and stir until very light brown.
4. add broth and seasoning, heat to boiling.
5. cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
