I found this recipe on another site and someone said it was the actual Oatmeal Raisin Cookie recipe printed under the lid of the Quaker old fashioned oats container. I tried it out, and made only one alteration, although I would suggest others, to tweak it for our tastes.
Ingredients:
1 cup margarine or butter, softened
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups oats
1 cup raisins
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional...my addition)
Directions:
1. Beat together butter and sugars until creamy.
2. Add eggs and vanilla and beat in well.
3. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using) and salt in seperate bowl.
4. Blend well.
5. Add flour blend to butter mixture, mixing well.
6. Stir in oats* and raisins, mixing well again.
7. Drop by rounded tablespoonful onto ungreased cookie sheets.
8. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees.
9. *my notes....after trying this recipe, I would try to grind the whole oats, as the whole ones where a bit to chew, but overall flavor is great, fun to make with my niece*
10. **another side note - watch cooking times carefully to maintain chewiness.**
