                    This was my grandmother's recipe; it's simple and wonderful. Ingredients: 
                    
                        
                                                1 (9 inch) pie shell  |  
                                                1/2 cup butter  |  
                                                1 1/2 cups white sugar  |  
                                                3 eggs  |  
                                                2 teaspoons vanilla extract  |  
                                                
                     
                    Directions: 
                    
                        
                            
                                1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2. Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Allow mixture to cool. 3. In a medium bowl, beat eggs until frothy. Add butter mixture to eggs, beating until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract. Pour mixture into pastry shell. 4. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour.                              |
