A lovely pudding cake from German recipe group. Schmand is a very thick soured dairy product and greek Yoghurt is a good substitute Or mix sour cream into creme fraiche to make it very thick. No pan size indicated but with the amt of ingredients, probably a something like a 9 x 13 pan . Read more . By the way many supermarkerts carry the Dr Oetker brand of ingrdients for German baking such as the glaze and pudding mixes etc. Ingredients:
250 g margarine -margarine room temp |
200 g zucker- sugar |
250 g mehl -flour |
4 eier- eggs |
0.5 päckchen backpulver , 1 1/2 tsp baking powder |
2 päckchen packet puddingpulver vanille - 2 pkg vanilla pudding powder ( cooked not instant ) |
750 ml milch- milk |
120 g zucker- sugar |
3 päckchen -3 tubs schmand thick soured cream or very thick fraiche, 200g each |
2 gläser schattenmorellen , 2 glass jars of red morello cherries in syrup, draine and reserve juice |
3 päckchen packet roter tortenguss - 3 pkg red glaze mix |
Directions:
1. Beat the margarine, sugar, flour, eggs and baking powder and make a batter and place in a greased cake tin 2. Bake 200 °C for 10-15 minutes. 3. In the meantime prepare ,cook the pudding mix with milk and sugar . 4. Stir the Schmand. 5. Remove the the cake from the oven and spread with the cooked pudding and bake again for about 10-15 minutes . 6. Remove from oven and cool 7. Meanwhile, drain cherries, reserve the juice distribute cherries on cooled on the cake . 8. Add enough water if needed to the cherry juice to make 3/4 liter. 9. Combine with the glaze mix and boil thick. 10. Spread over the cake 11. Let cool and chill |
