This is a very old recipe. I started making these in the 1970's and I usually make them every Christmas. They are light and moist. The recipe originally came from a Karo syrup advertisement. The original advertisement is quite fragile and it's getting hard to read, but now I don't have to worry about losing it anymore! Read more ! Hope you try them. Ingredients:
mix 1 cup margarine (or butter) and 1/2 cup sugar. |
stir in 1/2 cup karo light corn syrup, 2 egg yolks and 2 1/2 cups flour. chill. |
roll into 1-inch balls. dip into slightly beaten egg whites, then into 2 cups finely chopped nuts (i used walnuts). place on greased baking sheet. press candied cherry halves into centers (i use red and green). |
Directions:
1. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes. |
