Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1 cup packed brown sugar |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/3 cup shortening |
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
3/4 cup flaked coconut |
3/4 cup chopped maraschino cherry, drained |
1/3 cup flour |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
3/4 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
3 eggs, beaten |
1 cup chopped nuts |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. 2. Mix flour, brown sugar, salt and baking soda. 3. Cut in shortening. 4. Add butter or margarine. 5. Press in ungreased 13 x 9 pan. 6. Bake 25 minutes. 7. Mix topping ingredients except nuts; spread over baked layer. 8. Sprinkle with nuts. 9. Bake 25 minutes or until center is set. 10. Cool completely and then cut into bars. |
