IDK where I got this recipe, but it's really good for something different. Ingredients:
2 cups self-rising flour |
2 cups granulated sugar |
2 large eggs, well beaten |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 cup red tart cherries, pitted & with juice |
1 cup granulated sugar |
1/2 cup evaporated milk |
1/2 butter or 1/2 margarine |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. CAKE: 2. Preheat oven to 300°. 3. Lightly grease flour a 9 X 9 X 3 cake pan. 4. Mix all ingredients together well. 5. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. 6. ICING:. 7. Mix all ingredients in a medium saucepan & bring to a boil over medium-high heat. 8. Cook over a low boil, for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly. 9. Pour over warm cake. 10. Serve warm with a scoop of french vanilla ice cream. YUM! |
