Fun warm Summer celebration of cherries. Ingredients:
1 3/4 cup of sugar |
1 cup of butter |
1 tsp of vanilla |
21 ounce can of cherry pie filling |
4 eggs |
3 cups of flour |
1 1/2 tsp of baking powder |
icing |
1 cup powdered sugar |
1/2 tsp of almond extract |
1 to 2 tbsp of milk |
Directions:
1. Cream together sugar, butter and vanilla. 2. Add eggs one at a time. 3. Add flour gradually. 4. Pour 2/3 of the batter in greased 11 x 15 jelly roll pan. 5. Spread cherry filling over batter. 6. Add remaining batter by dropping spoonfuls on top of the cherry mixture. 7. Bake at 350. for 25-35 minutes. 8. Make icing by mixing the icing ingredients well. 9. Drizzle over cooled baked cherry bars. |
