Enjoy a relaxing moment with this buttery, streuzel topped cake, warm from the oven. Add a cup of coffee & take 5 Ingredients:

1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour |
1 1/2 tsp baking powder |
1/4 tsp salt |
3/4 cup butter |
3/4 cup sugar |
1/2 tsp vanilla |
1/2 tsp almond extract |
3 eggs |
1 16oz can pitted dark, sweet cherries - well drained |
toppings |
almond crumb topping |
2/3 cup all-purpose flour |
1/4 cup butter |
3 tblspn sugar |
1/4 tsp almond extract |
2 tblspn sliced almonds |
Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees 2. Grease 9x9x2 inch square baking pan 3. Stir together, flour, baking powder & salt - set aside 4. In the large bowl of an electric mixer, beat butter, sugar, vanilla & almond extract on medium speed until well combined 5. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each 6. Gradually add flour mixture, beating on low, just until combined 7. Pour batter into prepared pan 8. Top with drained cherries 9. Sprinkle with almond-crumb topping 10. Sprinkle with sliced almonds 11. Bake 40 - 45 mins or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean 12. Serve warm or completely cool in pan on wore rack |
