A fried corn bread. Very tasty with honey drizzle over them. Ingredients:
2 c. cornmeal |
1/4 t. baking soda |
1 t . salt |
1/2 c shortening |
3/4 c buttermilk |
3/4 c milk |
butter |
honey |
Directions:
1. Combine cornmeal, baking soda, and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. 2. Add buttermilk and milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. 3. Form batter into eight 1/2 inch thick cakes. 4. Place on a hot greased griddle. 5. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. 6. Turn and bake an additional 15 minutes. 7. Serve hot with butter and honey. |
