Stewed apples are a marvelous side dish for pork, or a wonderful dessert served with some low fat vanilla yogurt. Your kitchen will smell like you are baking a pie, but without the crust. Use any type apple your prefer. I had red delicious on hand, so that's what got used. And use real maple syrup. My partner and I enjoyed these with Chef-Boy-I-Be-Illinois' Pork Tenderloin Rosa Di Parma
Ingredients:
4 apples, peeled cored and sliced
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons apple juice
Directions:
1. Bring apples, syrup, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon to a simmer and simmer covered until apples are tender 10-15 minutes.
2. Combine cornstarch and apple juice and add to stewed apples to thicken the sauce.
3. Serve warm.
