My Grandmother made this for years, and then my Mother after her, and now I make it for family get-togethers. It's fabulously delicious. Ingredients:
5 medium potatoes |
garlic salt |
2 tablespoons butter |
2 tablespoons flour |
2 cups milk |
2 -3 cups cheddar cheese |
Directions:
1. Boil unpeeled potatoes; set aside to cool. 2. Peel potatoes and grate with cheese grater. 3. Place grated potatoes in an oven-safe dish. 4. Add garlic salt to taste. 5. CHEESE SAUCE:. 6. Over a low burner, melt butter; mix with flour and milk. 7. Slowly add cheese to thicken. 8. Pour cheese sauce into potatoes and fold in; add salt to taste. 9. Bake in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for 1 hour until brown on top. |
