Southern Living; given to me by my MIL. Husband's favorite. Ingredients:
6 slices bacon |
2 lbs ground beef |
1 small onion, chopped |
1 cup catsup |
1 (4 ounce) jar sliced mushrooms, drained |
salt and pepper |
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese |
8 hamburger buns |
Directions:
1. Fry bacon in large skillet; crumble and set aside. 2. Drain off all bacon drippings. 3. Add ground beef to skillet and brown; drain off fat. 4. Sir in bacon, onion, catsup, mushrooms, salt and pepper. 5. Cover and simmer 10-15 minutes. 6. Sprinkle cheese over top, and heat until cheese melts. 7. To serve, spoon over split hamburger buns. |
