This is an old fav of mine. My mom used to make it for me as a kid. On my birthday, I would choose this over going out to eat! I make it very often now, my son loves it. I usually serve it with a salad or veggie sticks. Ingredients:
12 slices buttered toast (butter both sides) |
1 lb ground beef (browned & drained) |
1 medium onion (diced) |
1 tablespoon prepared mustard |
2 eggs |
24 slices american cheese (kraft singles work great) |
1 cup celery (diced) |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 2. Lightly grease casserole dish. 3. Beat together mustard and eggs in small bowl. 4. In separate bowl, mix beef, onion and celery. 5. Place 4 slices of toast in bottom of casserole. 6. Top with beef mixture. 7. Top beef with 6 slices of cheese. 8. Top cheese with 4 slices of toast. 9. Continue layers. 10. Pour egg mixture over casserole. 11. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and paprika. 12. Bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes. |
