Appettizer which is easy to make-yields 2 dozen Ingredients:
4 ounces of monterey jack cheese with jalapeno peppers in it, buy already cubed or cut block into 24 cubes. |
24 ( 2 inch square wonton wrappers |
peanut or vegetable , or canola oil for frying |
_hot sauce as follows |
1/3 cup chopped onion |
1 clove garlic, minced |
1 tablespoon vegetable oil |
1/2 cup seeded chopped tomato |
1 tablespoon chopped canned jalapeno peppers |
1- 1/2 tablespoon white vinegar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano |
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin |
1 -8 ounce can tomato sauce |
cook onion and garlic in a sauce pan over medium heat , stirring constantly until tender. add tomato and remaining ingredients; cook until thoroughly heated, stirring occ. serve warm. |
Directions:
1. Wontons 2. place 1 cheese cube in center of each wonton wrapper,moisten edges of wonton wrapper lightly with water. fold each wonton wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle, pressing edges together to seal. 3. pour oil to depth of 1 1/2 inches into a wok ,fryer or skillet; heat to 375 degrees 4. fry wontons only 6 at a time , for 30 seconds on each side just until golden brown dont over cook. 5. drain on paper towels, 6. serve immed. with warm hot sauce ; yields 2 dozen |
