This is a fast and easy appetizer that can be made for any occasion. Ingredients:
1 lb. finely shredded monterey jack cheese |
2 eggs, slightly beaten |
1/4 cup finely chopped chives |
1/4 tsp. white pepper |
1 package (16 oz.) frozen phyllo sheets, thawed |
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheet. 2. In bowl, mix cheese, eggs, chives and white pepper until well blended. 3. Cut stack of phyllo sheets lengthwise into thirds. Cover with wax paper, then with damp towel to prevent them from drying out. Use 2 sheets phyllo for each strip. 4. Place 1 heaping teaspoon cheese mixture on end of each strip; fold phyllo strip end-over-end, in triangular shape, to opposite end. 5. Place on cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining phyllo and cheese mixture. 6. Brush margarine over triangles. 7. Bake about 20 minutes or until puffed and golden. |
