I came up with this recipe myself looking for a whole grain cheese scone recipe with some jazz. You can vary this recipe easily by adding in e.g. sesame seeds, tahini, some herbs, garlic or other add-ins of your choice. Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups whole grain flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
30 g butter |
2 -4 tablespoons gomashio (use more if you really want to taste the sesame in the scones) |
1/4-1/2 cup milk |
grated cheese, for sprinkling |
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 220°C/425°F. 2. In a bowl combine flour, gomashio and baking powder. Rub in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. 3. Add liquid little by little until a soft, but not sticky dough forms. 4. Pat out on a lightly floured surface and cut out scones of desired size ( I use a regular glass for cutting). 5. Place on a papaer-lined baking sheet, top with grated cheese and bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown and baked through. 6. Enjoy! :). |
