Ingredients:
1 (16-ounce) loaf french bread |
1/2 cup butter or margarine |
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese |
1 (3-ounce) package cream cheese |
2 egg whites |
Directions:
1. Trim crust from bread; discard. Cut bread into 2-inch cubes; place in a large bowl, and set aside. 2. Melt butter and cheeses in a saucepan over low heat; stir occasionally. 3. Beat whites at high speed with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form; fold one-quarter of whites into cheese mixture. Fold into remaining whites. Pour over bread cubes, tossing to coat. Place bread cubes in a single layer on an ungreased cookie sheet. 4. Bake at 400° for 12 minutes or until golden. |
