great warming dish for a cold winter day Ingredients:
· 6 cups chicken broth |
· 1 tsp. salt |
· 1/4 tsp. pepper |
· 1/4 tsp garlic powder |
· 2 cups regular grits |
· 16 oz. cheddar cubed 1/2 |
· 1/2 cup milk |
· 4 large eggs |
· 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter |
· 8 oz. grated sharp white cheddar |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease 4 qt. Casserole dish. 2. Bring the broth, salt, pepper and garlic powder to a boil in a 2-4qt. saucepan and stir in the grits. 3. Whisk until completely combined. 4. Reduce heat to low and simmer until grits are thick, about 6-10 minutes. 5. Stir in the cubed cheddar and milk. 6. Gradually stir in the eggs and butter until fully combined. 7. Pour the mixture into the prepared casserole dish. 8. Sprinkle with the white cheddar and bake for 35-40 minutes or until set. |
