Ingredients:
1/4 cup(s) allpurpose flour
1/4 cup(s) butter
1/2 cup(s) carrots, sliced
1/2 cup(s) celery, sliced
1 cup(s) cubed ham, optional
1/2 teaspoon(s) ground black pepper
2 cup(s) milk
1/4 cup(s) onion, chopped
3 potatoes, diced
1 teaspoon(s) salt
8 ounce(s) sharp cheddar cheese, grated
tabasco sauce
1 1/2 cup(s) water
Directions:
1. Simmer vegetables in the water salt and pepper until tender.
2. Make a roux with the butter and flour and add to a little of the milk. Add this and remainder of milk to the vegetables and cook until thick (at least 1 minute).
3. Add grated cheese and stir until melted through, at low heat. Add ham and heat through.
4. Each person can add Tabasco at the table as desired.
