Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour |
3 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup shortening |
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese |
2/3 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; cut in shortening and cheese until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add milk, stirring until moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead lightly 3 or 4 times. 2. Roll dough to 3/4-inch thickness; cut into rounds with a 2- inch cutter. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet; bake at 450° for 8 to 10 minutes. |
