These tiny biscuits can be served as an appetizer, with afternoon tea, or as an accompaniment to dinner. Ingredients:
4 cups plain flour |
1 lb. grated sharp cheese |
3 sticks butter |
1/2 tsp. salt |
cayenne pepper (several shakes) |
optional ingredients |
confectioner's sugar |
pecan halves |
Directions:
1. Mix flour, salt, cayenne pepper, and cheese. 2. Toss lightly, 3. Cut butter into it until butter pieces are the size of large peas. 4. Roll out thin and cut out, using a small biscuit cutter (dip in flour before each cut) or the floured end of a small-necked jar. This is for new cooks who don't yet have the fancy equipment. Improvise! 5. Place on baking sheet(s). 6. Bake at 350 degrees 10 minutes. 7. Optional: 8. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar and top each biscuit with a pecan half before cooking. |
