This recipe comes from England. It goes very well with baked potatoes and a salad. Ingredients:
3 ounces rolled oats |
3 ounces whole wheat flour |
3 ounces margarine |
1 egg |
1 large onion |
1 ounce margarine |
4 ounces grated cheese |
2 eggs |
1/2 pint milk or 1/2 pint tomato juice |
1 teaspoon dried sage |
salt & pepper |
Directions:
1. for crust: rub margarine into the flour and oatmeal and mix with the beaten egg. 2. press the mixture into a round pie tin 8 in diameter and 2 deep for filling: chop the onion and cook in margarine for a few minutes. 3. add the sage, and salt and pepper to taste. 4. in a large bowl mix the beaten eggs, milk/juice, and cheese. 5. add the onion mixture. 6. pour the filling into the crust and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, until the filling is set and golden-brown. |
