Made this last night and the whole family loved it! I used St Arnolds Lawnmower for the beer but you can use whatever you prefer, even non alcoholic beer could be used. Tastes great toasted and saves well, if you have any left over, lol! Read more ! I made my own self rising flour- 3c. bread flour with 3 tsp of baking powder and 1 tsp salt added Ingredients:
3c self rising flour (or make your own like i did) |
1/3c. sugar |
1- 12oz bottle beer of your choice (i used st arnolds lawnmower) |
3 tbs milk |
3/4c. shredded cheddar cheese |
1 tbsp freeze dried chives, or 2 tbsp fresh if you have it |
1/2 stick of butter, melted |
Directions:
1. Stir all dry ingredients together (including cheese and chives) until blended, add beer and milk and mix well, should be a sturdy batter. Pour into a lightly greased 9 x 5 loaf pan, bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Pull out of oven, pour melted butter over the top of the loaf as even as you can and return to the over for 10 minutes. Let set for at least 30 minutes to absorb the butter, pull from pan, slice and enjoy! |
