From Carnation Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter |
1/4 cup all-purpose flour |
2 (12 ounce) cans carnation evaporated milk |
1 cup beer or 1 cup water |
2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard (optional) |
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper |
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (8 ounces) |
cooked crumbled bacon |
sliced green onion |
herbed croutons |
Directions:
1. Heat butter in large saucepan over medium heat. 2. Add flour; cook, stirring constantly or until bubbly. 3. Add evaporated milk; bring to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly. 4. Reduce heat; stir in beer, Worcestershire sauce, salt, mustard and cayenne pepper. 5. Simmer 10 minutes and remove from heat. 6. Stir in cheddar cheese until melted. 7. Ladle into bowls. 8. Serve with toppings. |
