This recipe goes with Cheddar-Apple Vanocka Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter or margarine |
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar |
3 1/2 cups peeled, chopped granny smith apple (about 3 apples) |
2 tablespoons cornstarch |
2 tablespoons water |
1 1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese |
Directions:
1. Melt butter and brown sugar in a large saucepan over medium heat, stirring often. Add chopped apple; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer, uncovered, 20 minutes or until apple is soft. Stir together cornstarch and water. Stir cornstarch mixture into apple filling; cook 1 minute or until mixture thickens. Remove from heat. Cool completely. Stir in cheese. |
