I got this recipe from my sister when I was still a teenager...loved to cook even then! This is nice served over rice. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
1/4 cup breadcrumbs |
1 egg, beaten |
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
1 tablespoon oil |
1 large onion, quartered |
2 carrots, sliced |
1 green pepper, in chunks |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1 tablespoon cornstarch |
1/3 cup water |
1/4 cup vinegar |
1 tablespoon soy sauce |
1 teaspoon chicken bouillon, powder |
Directions:
1. Combine beef,crumbs,egg,garlic salt and pepper. 2. Form into 10-12 medium sized meatballs. 3. Heat oil in large pan, brown and cook meatballs,set aside . 4. Pour off fat except for 2 tbsp and stir-fry veggies in pan until tender-crisp,about 8-10 minutes. 5. In a small pan combine sugar,cornstarch,gradually blend in water,vinegar,soy sauce and chicken bouillion powder.Bring to a boil ,stirring constantly until thickened. 6. Add meatballs back into pan with veggies and pour the sauce over. |
