This frosty cold drink takes inspiration from the famous Pimm's Cup. Freeze water in a round mold with slices of lemon, orange and maraschino cherries arranged artistically. The large block of ice melts more slowly and adds less water to the punch. From the Creole chapter of the United States Regional Cookbook, Culinary Arts Institute of Chicago, 1947. Ingredients:
4 oranges, juice of |
3 lemons, juice of |
sugar, to taste |
1/2 cup maraschino cherry juice |
1/2 cup vermouth |
1/2 cup rum |
2 quarts champagne |
cucumber, peel for garnish |
Directions:
1. Sweeten fruit juices slightly; combine the remaining ingredients. 2. Pour into a punch bowl and let stand for ten minutes with the ice ring before serving. |
