This was in the local newspaper this past week. I love the taste of chai. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup skim milk |
1/4 tsp salt |
1/4 tsp cinnamon |
1/4 tsp ground coriander |
1/4 tsp ground cardamon |
1/4 tsp ground turmeric |
drop of vanilla |
2 tsp honey |
3/4 cup rolled oats |
2 tbsp plain yogurt or buttermilk (optional) |
Directions:
1. Pour milk into saucepan. Add salt, cinnamon, coriander, cardamom, and turmeric. Whisk to blend. Place pan over medium heat. 2. Just before milk comes to a boil, lower heat and let mixture simmer for about 5 minutes. 3. Stir in vanilla and honey and whisk until honey dissolves. 4. Sprinkle in oats and stir once or twice. Cover pan and leave over low heat for about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. 5. When oatmeal has thickened to your liking, serve hot with yogurt or buttermilk |
