This is an easy variation of french toast that is unique and delicious! The key is in the bread- experiment for your favorite kind; I like to use nice thick sourdough or french bread. Ingredients:
1 tbs butter |
3-4 thick slices of bread - sourdough or french bread both work great |
1 egg |
1/3 cup vanilla chai latte (we used bottled bolthouse farm vanilla chai latte) but any premade chai latte will work; add a 1/2 tsp vanilla if not already vanilla flavored. |
cinnamon to taste |
Directions:
1. Combine egg, chai latte mix (vanilla extract if necessary) to a shallow bowl and whisk. See Photo 2. Melt butter in a skillet or on a griddle and heat (be careful not to burn the butter) 3. Dip each piece of bread into the chai mixture making sure to evenly coat both sides and place on griddle. 4. Repat for all remaining pieces of bread (some bread is more absorbent than others so you may not get through all 4 peices, or you may be able to make more) 5. Cook each side for 1- 2 minutes until golden brown 6. Remove from griddle. Sprinkle with cinnamon and serve with butter and maple syrup. |
