Great side dish. Ingredients:
4 1/2 cups sliced celery |
1/2 cup chopped onion |
3/4 cup sliced mushrooms |
1/4 cup butter |
2 tablespoons flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon black pepper |
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder |
1 cup milk |
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided |
1/8 cup chopped green pepper |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease or spray a casserole dish. 2. In a large skillet, saute sliced celery, chopped onion and sliced mushrooms in butter for about 15 minutes or until tender. 3. Stir in flour, salt, black pepper and garlic powder; cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. 4. Gradually add milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. 5. Add 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese and stir until melted. Stir chopped green pepper. 6. Pour into prepared baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. 7. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese and bake an additional 5 minutes. 8. Serve. |
